what now?
After the Applications Are In |
 |
 |
You've mailed in your last college application. Now the wait begins. After the frenzy of working on your applications, you may be wondering...what now?
1. Keep your grades up.
Senioritis is more than welcome-the day after you graduate. For now, resist the temptation to slack off. Colleges will look at your entire record; if your grades drop significantly, they can revoke your admission. Similarly, you should resist the temptation to drop major courses and take something easier. Any change in your academic record could negatively affect your chances of being admitted and/or receiving a scholarship.
2. Be patient.
They say the waiting is the hardest part. Right now your application is being looked at by many different people, and this process takes time. An entire committee of admissions counselors is comparing your application materials to those of many different people. In some cases, your application may also be looked at by coaches, by professors, or by special scholarship committees. Resist the temptation to phone and ask about your acceptance-it won't help, and it may slow things down.
3. Communicate what's important.
Have you received a new honor or started a new project? E-mail or write the admissions office about it. This kind of communication could really help your application.
