“My Centre Life” Returns
The popular feature, “My CENTRE Life,”
has returned to Centre College’s website.
Visitors can read the autobiographies and watch
a video of a diverse group of six freshmen who
have chosen to open up their college lives online.
Postings include journal entries, lots of photos,
and more video of their first year at Centre.

Walter Cronkite to speak at Pacific
Walter Cronkite, whose 19 years as a CBS news
anchorman defined the public’s opinions
of the issues of the day, will speak at University
of the Pacific Nov. 6. The event is free and open
to the public. Cronkite was a CBS Evening News
anchorman from 1962 to 1981. During that time,
he became so influential that analysts regularly
dissected his evening broadcasts to get a sense
of American opinion and views.

Frances Hesselbein to Speak About Leadership
in a New World
Dr. Frances Hesselbein, Chairman of the Board
of Governors of the Leader to Leader Institute,
(formerly the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for
Nonprofit Management), will present “Leading
in a New Century, a New World,” on
Friday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m. in Prosser Auditorium
at Moravian College.

Speaking on Making a Difference
Lesley University’s Leadership for Social
Change Lecture Series will present a panel by
Alan Khazei and Vanessa Kirsch on November 6.
Khazei is the Co-Founder of City Year, a youth
service corps that helped to inspire the development
of AmeriCorps, America’s federal investment
in national youth service. Kirsch is the President
and Founder of New Profit Inc.

There was a time at MUC when students gathered
in the Snack Bar to socialize with one another.
Living on campus was the norm and dressing up
for dinner in the dining commons was expected.
Having a phone in your residence hall room was
a luxury and there was no need to worry about
having ample parking, because no one had a car.
How times have changed.

National Experts Call Chemistry Courses
at Benedictine "Exemplary"
The Center for Educational Policy Research (CEPR)
at the University of Oregon has recognized two
general chemistry courses at Benedictine University
for reflecting the best of college teaching. In
addition to being cited as a best practices course
overall, specific elements of the course were
designated as “exemplary.”
