Merrimack Named to President’s Honor Roll for Distinguished Community Service
Merrimack College has been named to the U.S. President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the college’s commitment to community service and extraordinary volunteer efforts. Merrimack was one of 140 institutions of higher education recognized for distinguished service among the nearly 500 schools named to the President’s Honor Roll.

40-foot statue dedicated to Abilene Christian University
An almost 40-foot bronze statue depicting the biblical story of "Jacob's Dream," was dedicated to Abilene Christian University recently in honor of Grace L. Woodward for her gift of $ 26.5 million to the university. This magnificent piece of art, which is surrounded by a park-like area designed to encourage prayer and meditation, was crafted by Jack Maxwell, chair of ACU's Department of Art and Design.

WWC receives national Campus Sustainability Achievement Award
Warren Wilson College has received the national 2006 Campus Sustainability Achievement Award in the category of four-year institutions with fewer than 1,000 students. The award was presented Oct. 5 by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education at the AASHE conference in Tempe, Ariz.

New Media Department Wins Aegis Award
The Taylor University Department of Communication/New Media won an Aegis Award for the film Operation SINBAD (Southern Indiana Bioterrorism Attack and Defense), a video produced for the Department of Homeland Security. The Aegis is a national award for video and film production.

High School and College Students Explore IT Field at Marymount University Workshop
IT is fun! That was the consensus of opinion among the high school and college students, as well as IT professionals, at a free Marymount University workshop co-sponsored with Microsoft and the Society for Information Management on The Future Potential in IT. Highlighting the fun element, an Xbox 360, autographed by the Xbox development team, was among the prizes raffled off!

Kennedy Delivers Impassioned Speech at The Hett
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. lived up to his reputation as a resolute defender of the environment as he opened McKendree College’s 2006-07 George E. McCammon Memorial Distinguished Speaker Series in front of a full house on November 9. He delivered a well-received speech that conveyed his love for the earth and desire to protect it for future generations.
