Virtual and Live Actors Join on Stage
In a theatrical first, actors working in real time from remote locations recently were beamed onto a stage where they performed with live, in the flesh actors for an audience that experienced one seamless, three-dimensional show, according to the University of Central Florida. Project Homeless Connect in Denver
Project Homeless Connect is a one-day event that serves as a one-stop shop, connecting homeless individuals to needed services, including: employment, housing, healthcare, legal resources, Social Security and food-stamp benefits. The University of Denver will host the city’s fourth Project Homeless Connect (PHC4). More than 800 DU students, staff members, faculty and community members are teaming up to work one-on-one with homeless citizens to help these individuals move toward self-sufficiency. Read More

ONU Technological Studies teams win 2007 Robot of the Year
Ohio Northern University Technological Studies teams captured two gold awards, one silver award and the "2007 Robot of the year award" at the National Robotics Challenge held at The Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Marion on March 9-10. ONU garnered the 2007 Robot of the Year," the highest award at the competition after designing, building and programming a manufactured work cell consisting of a KUKA industrial robot, a plastic injection molder and several applied control systems.

Berry Forensics Team Brings Home 13th Consecutive State Championship
The Berry forensics team finished first overall in the Georgia Intercollegiate Forensics Association state championship tournament hosted by Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga., in February. This is Berry's 13th consecutive state championship. Berry speakers brought home individual crowns in five of the 11 events. In addition, 2 students won the opportunity to compete for even greater glory at the Interstate Oratory Contest, the nation's oldest and most prestigious speech tournament. Read More

Grand Opening Set for New Doane Softball/Baseball Complex
Doane College will debut its new softball and baseball complex in a grand opening ceremony Tuesday, March 27. The dedication will be followed by the softball conference home opener against Nebraska Wesleyan University. The estimated $870,000 project on the eastern edge of campus includes two fields, stadium seating, batting cages, a two-story press box and concessions. The project also includes new track and field throwing competition areas. Read More

Wagner Students Go to Jail — For Art
Wagner College sent 15 freshmen to New York City’s notorious Riker’s Island jail. No, they hadn’t done anything wrong; it was just a part of their Wagner curriculum. The assignment: design a couple of uplifting murals depicting civil-rights leaders, and paint those murals on a wall inside Riker’s. The project was part of Wagner College’s signature “learning communities” program, a central feature of the school’s “practical liberal arts” curriculum that combines classroom learning with real-world applications.
