Five TU Students Win Prestigious Awards
Tulsa students received nationally competitive awards this spring: two from the Goldwater Foundation, with one honorable mention; two from the National Science Foundation; and one from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. “The success of these students is a result of the unique and meaningful collaboration between our faculty and students who participate in the wide range of research opportunities that we offer,” says President Steadman Upham. College Receives “Learn and Serve America” Grant
Wagner was one of nine institutions selected from the more than 200 nationwide that applied to receive a three-year, $550,000 grant from Learn and Serve America, which is part of the Corporation for National Community Service. The pilot program will partner academic departments with local organizations to provide the non-profits with a flow of volunteers and teach students the value of interaction with the community. Henderson State University is inaugurating a Common Book program in fall 2006 in an effort to encourage student, faculty, and staff involvement in campus life. This program will offer everyone on campus the opportunity to read and discuss the same book over the course of the semester.
