Butler University Receives Largest Gift in History from Lilly Endowment Inc.
Butler University received its largest gift ever, a $25 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to support the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Expansion Project, which will add public health initiatives, integrate health education across the curriculum, recruit and retain high-caliber pharmacy faculty, and provide students and faculty with opportunities to work with diverse populations.

New Saint Mary’s University Program Brings Private College Cost Within Reach
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota has created the Brother James Miller Scholarship for Access, designed to assist good students in the low- to middle-income range who might not otherwise be able to afford a private college. Saint Mary’s guarantees that comprehensive charges for all qualified freshmen enrolling at the Winona campus in fall 2007 will be equal to or less than the cost to in-state students attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Stetson University Library to House 26-year Political Legacy of Congressman Clay Shaw
The duPont-Ball Library at Stetson University will be home to documents telling the story of U.S. Rep. E. Clay Shaw Jr.’s 13 terms in Congress – from bills signed by presidents and the pens they used, to massive numbers of notebooks and position papers, to stacks of photographs of political legends.  Shaw graduated from the Stetson University College of Law in 1966 and earned a Business Administration undergraduate degree 1961. Emilie Costar Shaw, his wife, is a Stetson alumna.

Chapman University Student Wins $25,000 KTLA Broadcast Audition
Chapman University senior Emily Wilson has won the $25,000 KTLA-TV College Audition, the television station announced on the KTLA Morning News. The broadcast journalism senior, who hails from Westminster, Colorado, triumphed over an entrant pool that started out weeks ago with literally hundreds of hopeful university students from across California.

Galway, Ireland Abroad Program Combines Study with Service
Jesse McKenna ’08 met many new people during her time in Galway, Ireland, but she never expected the president of the country to be one of them. While attending a conference held by Network Ireland, an organization for women in business and the arts, McKenna had the opportunity to meet Mary McAleese, the current president of Ireland, and hear her speak.

Mercyhurst Unanimous #1 on USA Today Poll
Mercyhurst College received all 19 first-place votes and 190 points to claim the No. 1 ranking on the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll for the third-consecutive week. The Lakers completed a sweep of College Hockey America foe Robert Morris University to retain the top spot. The Lakers concluded the first half of the season with a 16-1-1 record and six straight wins.
