USF Alum Turned Professor Leads Breast Cancer Research
Christina Tzagarakis-Foster began her academic career at the University of San Francisco as an undergraduate biology major. Now, the assistant professor has returned to her alma mater to teach the same topic and to lead a group of students in promising breast cancer research. The Red Knot Expedition
Researchers from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and The Wetlands Institute will journey to the end of the earth on an epic quest to save a tiny bird from the clutches of extinction. Transylvania Teams up with Alltech to present "Science Made Simple"
Transylvania President Charles L. Shearer announced today that the University has teamed up with Alltech to offer a public lecture series that deals with how science affects our health, life and future. "We are delighted to partner with Alltech to present Science Made Simple, a four-part lecture series," said Shearer. "Transylvania is fortunate to have the opportunity to host four distinguished scientists on campus to speak to our students, faculty and staff as well as the community at large." Judy Shepard to Speak at William Jewell College
Judy Shepard, opponent of violence against homosexuals and mother of the late Matthew Shepard, will offer a free public lecture at William Jewell College. In 1998, Judy Shepard lost her son, Matthew, to a murder motivated by anti-gay hate. Determined to prevent Matthew's fate from befalling others, she turned her tragedy into a crusade for justice by establishing The Matthew Shepard Foundation to help carry on her son's legacy. Comedian Preacher Moss to Present “End of Racism”

McKendree College's Black History Month celebration includes an appearance by comedian Preacher Moss, a writer for Damon Wayans, and Saturday Night Live. Moss's comedy styling is known for being sculptured out of the everyday relevance of life. He has a reputation for being intellectual, yet humble; charismatic, and dynamic. President Receives Green Building Award from the U.S. Green Building Council
Theodora J. Kalikow, president of University of Maine at Farmington, was recently awarded a 2007 Green Building Leadership Award from the Maine Chapter of the United States Green Building Council for her pioneering role in advancing environmentally responsible buildings in Maine. The award was presented by Richard Pattenaude, president of University of Southern Maine, at the chapter's annual awards party held at the Portland Museum of Art.
