President Bush Appoints Bethany Alumnus to Head National Cancer Institute
President George W. Bush announced Tuesday, he intends to appoint Bethany College graduate, John Edward Niederhuber, M.D., to be the 13th director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the Department of Health and Human Services. After completing a major in Chemistry at Bethany, Dr. Niederhuber entered the Ohio State University School of Medicine and earned an M.D. in 1964. MORE>>

Living Learning Center among New Campus Developments
Creighton plans to mix a variety of student services and academic offices in a brand new Living Learning Center, slated to open in the fall of 2008. Ground is scheduled to be broken on the building this fall. Included in the Center will be a sports Café, indoor/outdoor latte bar, 500-seat multi-use auditorium, 10 standard size classrooms, 10 seminar rooms, a bookstore and a 7,000-square-foot exercise space. Dr. Kathleen Shine Cain, professor of English at Merrimack, was a visiting professor/senior lecturer at St. Mary’s University College at Belfast, Northern Ireland for the 2005-06 academic year. While Merrimack has had an on-going relationship with St. Mary’s University College since 2000, this is the first time a Merrimack College professor has spent a year teaching at that institution. Basketball Player Named 2006 KIAC Female Athlete of the Year
Midway athlete Natalie Dial has been named the 2006 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Female Athlete of the Year. Dial, a 2006 Midway graduate, broke several basketball records, including All-Time Leader in Points Scored, Career Field Goals Made, and Career Field Goal Percentage. Dial maintained a 3.404 GPA throughout her career and earned a degree in Business Administration. MORE>>

ACI student Anna Harris is putting her political science studies to work this summer with an internship with Project Vote Smart. The non-profit, non-partisan organization provides factual information on candidates and elected officials for voters all over the country.
