Kettering University student creates time-saving tool that is now being adopted around the world

by Kettering University

The ingenuity of Darryl Bryson at his co-op job at Detroit Diesel Corp. has led to a very popular time-saving program for Daimler Truck.

The Kettering University senior created  the Technical Summary One-Pager Tool, that now saves engineers up to eight hours a week by mitigating the time it takes to create and relay one-page summaries.

“My friends don’t believe me sometimes and tell me ‘No way – nobody in Germany cares what you do.’  I just tell them that a co-op is an amazing way to understand the practical uses of what we learn in class.  I’ve gained positive notoriety and respect from other engineers and peers thanks to this idea.”

The tool is now being used by Daimler Truck engineers in the U.S., Brazil, Germany and Japan.

Darryl is a Mechanical Engineering major from Flint, Mich., with a minor in IT. He started his full-time job with Detroit Diesel in fall 2011.
