Students in English, for example, may choose to concentrate on English education or on creative writing. Within the social and political systems program, students may select national and international politics or criminal justice. One of the most popular programs at Pine Manor is biology.

Pine Manor’s approach to education is focused on the process of both learning and teaching. Students are encouraged to engage in the process—to challenge one another in discussions and to remain open to new perspectives. The low student to faculty ratio of ten to one helps foster this environment. On average, 75 percent of full-time faculty hold the PhD or the highest equivalent degree in their field, and 68 percent of full-time faculty are women. With 72 percent of Pine Manor’s classes having fewer than twenty students, the college ranks among the nation’s top forty liberal arts colleges in class size.
