Freshman class applicants may choose from Early Action (non-binding) or Regular Decision options. To complete the application process, applicants should submit the following:

 

·         Application for Admission (Paper Application must include $35 fee, On-line application is free)

·         An essay written on one of the topics provided in the application

·         A counselor recommendation form completed by your high school guidance counselor

·         Current, official secondary school transcript of your high school academic record

·         Results from the SAT (Xavier's code is 1965) and/or the ACT (Xavier's code is 003366)

Regular Decision

Feb 1- Deadline to apply for admission and be considered for all other scholarships and awards.

Financial Aid

 

Annual tuition for full-time undergraduates in 2004-2005 is $20,100, and

on-campus living expenses (room and board, double occupancy) are about $8,370.  The charges are the same for in-state and out-of-state residents.

 

Xavier offers many types of scholarships including service, academic, athletic, and performing arts.  The Xavier Service Fellowship is a full, four-year scholarship awarded annually to five first-year students who have demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding service to community, school and/or church, and leadership in encouraging others to serve.  Ten full-tuition renewable St. Francis Xavier Scholarships are given to first-year students who rank in the top 5 percent of their high school class and have at least a 1360 SAT or 31 ACT.  Many other scholarships are available to incoming students with various experience and qualifications.  

Over 95% of students receive some financial aid. Average Award of students eligible for need-based financial aid: $13,960. 

Financial aid can be gained through scholarships, grants, loans, and on-campus employment. 

·       Scholarships are offered by the government, organizations, corporations, businesses, individuals, and educational institutions; they are awarded to students based on academic merit.  Scholarships are gift assistance and they do not need to be repaid.

·       Grants are offered by the federal government, the State of Ohio, selected other states, and by Xavier University.  In general, grants are awarded to students based on financial need or a specific talent.  Grants are gift assistance and they do not need to be repaid.

·       Loans are offered by the federal government, commercial providers, and financial institutions. Loans are borrowed money and must be repaid by the student.

·       Students who submit the FAFSA may be offered the opportunity to apply for student employment.  A variety of positions are available which enhance the educational experience in many ways.  Students who accept employment will be paid biweekly by direct deposit. These funds can be used for personal expenses or applied to the direct costs for tuition, fees, room, and board.
