Belmont University

Belmont University is a university that wants its students to succeed inside and outside of the classroom. Enriched with its Christian beliefs, Belmont sets out to educate and help students so that they become well-rounded individuals.

From here to anywhere

Belmont University wants its students to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. With a liberal arts and sciences focus and a mission based upon Christian ideals, Belmont develops well-rounded individuals who make significant contributions both here and abroad. Students can choose from over 75 diverse and challenging majors that encompass not only the arts and sciences, but pre-professional areas as well. On Belmont’s beautiful campus, students enjoy the comforts of quaint surroundings and the action and excitement of a vibrant city.

Engaged Students

Students at Belmont are among the very best and brightest. They are encouraged to concentrate on their studies and to get involved in a variety of campus and community activities...

Engaged Students

  • Belmont is home to 5400 undergraduate and graduate students and is an especially great choice for students interested in the music business. The Belmont Experience: Learning for Life Core curriculum (BELL Core) is part of the general education curriculum, evidence of Belmont’s belief in the importance of experiential learning. Through this curriculum, students complete general education requirements and must fulfill participation requirements through activities such as undergraduate research, study abroad, service learning, internships, clinicals/practica, or recitals.
  • Belmont offers long-term as well as short-term study-abroad programs. A member of the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad, students may participate in Belmont-faculty-led summer programs in Australia, Belize, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
  • The junior cornerstone, a problem-based course required in the general education core, gives students the opportunity to perform undergraduate research. For fifteen years, undergraduates have been able to present research findings to a community of peers at the Belmont Undergraduate Research Symposium. In addition, the disciplines of science, sociology, and psychology each host their own research symposia.

Great Teaching

Belmont professors are here to care for and mentor students. They not only know you by name, but they want to know who you are, what you think, and where you are headed...

Great Teaching

  • Belmont features seven undergraduate colleges and schools: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Entertainment and Music Business, Health Sciences and Nursing, Religion, University College, and Visual and Performing Arts. The student to teacher ratio at Belmont is twelve to one, and 50 percent of Belmont classes enroll twenty students or fewer. Belmont boasts the only College of Entertainment and Music Business in the world, which houses majors specifically designed for those students who intend to pursue a career in the entertainment and/or music business. Belmont’s location in Nashville is especially beneficial for students hoping to gain experience in the field. The internship program in the College of Entertainment and Music Business sends hundreds of students each year to work in every facet of the music industry, from industry record labels, to publicists, to law firms.
  • Belmont’s BELL Core requires that a student’s first semester consists of a common book, a common movie, a seminar, and a writing course. Two religion courses are required, one freshman year, and one junior year. Also required are four global-studies courses, two experiential learning courses, and a senior capstone.
